Consider This...
Consider this; a brief, unassuming, yet mysterious bit of email traveling at the speed of…well…email, finds itself stranded in an obscure corner of the universe on a backward planet which, for lack of a better name, we’ll call “Earth”. Unable to recall its intended mission this innocent piece of information begins to exhibit signs of great distress as it gradually gains awareness of what inevitably becomes of truth in…”The Cyber Zone”.
Okay, here’s what happened. A friend of mine sent a link in an email that seemed inoperable. After several unsuccessful attempts to open this link, barring copying and pasting it into my browser, I sent it on to my son who reported that the link worked fine. Upon returning the message to me, the link in this returned email worked fine as well. I then forwarded the original message to myself and, once again, the link worked perfectly; though still inaccessible off of the original email.
My theory is that, en route, the fragmented bits of information from my friend’s correspondence inadvertently passed over Rod Serling’s grave (where they paused to pay homage, and enjoy a quick cigarette and a small glass of Chablis) only to discover that that sort of dimension hopping had permanently altered one of their realities. Normalcy was restored to one of its alternate realities when later, forwarded versions of the message took a brief sojourn over the tomb of “Ferdinand, The Wonder Llama”, once renowned throughout the animal kingdom for his skill at crossword puzzles.
I’m certain there is a more rational, technical explanation for what transpired, but quite frankly, I prefer mine.

I'd offer an explanation, but you're right - I prefer yours as well. One question, though: why "barring copying and pasting it into my browser?" Is your Ctrl key all icky?

No ickier than normal, but discovering computers rather late in life, relatively speaking, my professional response is "Huh?"

I prefer your explanation too. You really have a way of taking all this technical stuff and making it really more complicated and convoluted than it has to be. I like that.

I must agree. I cannot improve on your explanation . . . nor would I want to.
Your explanation is, after all, interesting and entertaining . . . at a level that geek-speak seldom (if ever) reaches
