Going My Separate Ways

It has been the perfect marriage.  A true testament to the old adage that opposites attract.  One a virtual nomad, the other your typical homebody.  Given this information, and the knowledge that I've been too impoverished for actual travel, it is easy to understand why, for the past several years, my mind and body have taken separate vacations.

While my body was busy tending to the more mundane domestic chores required to survive, its ethereal counterpart took wing at every opportunity.  If minds were allowed to log frequent flyer minutes it is quite possible I would never have to face reality, again.  Not that I'm planning on it, but it would be nice if I could think of it as ‘free’.

Lately, my body has seemed perfectly satisfied concerning itself, primarily, with temperature and its proximity to available indoor plumbing.  This has left my mind free to explore vistas the likes of which others dare not dream; chat with artists, statesmen and pioneers, living and dead; and on occasion simply sit, lean wistfully on the counter, and marvel at the wonder that is “Formica®”.

Of course, this arrangement only remains viable as long as all parties return home, eventually.

Now, if you’ll pardon me…my chariot awaits.

I never chat with statesmen who are dead because I figure how can they harm any of us now.

But this separate mind/body vacation thing has possibilities. Next week, my body is meeting Angela Jolie while my mind is staying home to read the new Harry Potter book.

Knowing me, I'd send my mind to the Jolie residence while my body is sitting on the futon wondering what the heck to do with this stack of papers and cardboard.

      Enjoy the book,

I'm going to have to study your technique. My mind has the travel part pretty well mastered, but still insists that my body go also, despite its protests; "you expect me to go there, do that?" Needs some work.

This technique was quite inadvertant, I assure you, and perhaps not one which just anyone may wish to pursue.  It's probably best to put your efforts into staying in one piece.

      Thanks for the visit,
