Balance and Perspective
In poise you’ll find complacency,
Disorder well concealed.
Bedlam finds no vacancy;
Ennui, long now, congealed.
About the time you grab the horns
And Life begins to flail;
Then very soon you’re dealing with
What’s underneath the tail.
Ask a monk, or trapeze star,
“Just where do you find ease?”
Now, scale their answers from afar;
And then…ask the trapeze.Pinhole's Shop

In my experience, ennui is best served piping hot. When it congeals, it brings to mind herring and old sweat socks tossed in a blender.

Stop...you're making me hungry.

Just a little tip: when you grab the horns, do it from the front!

Oh, great! Where were you this morning?

I've been trying to act all poised and everything, hoping to impress you. Now that I know you've seen through it, I guess I can relax a little...
whew!

I thought you were just naturally poised.

I heard someone on the radio yesterday morning talk about a fellow who was inclined to "grab Life by the horns and dance around the pointy bits"... It made me think of you, Pinhole, for some reason -- but then I forgot all about it. Until this poem reminded me.
