BOO!

It's that time again.  The witching hour.  Ghosts, goblins, evil incarnate.  Your worst nightmares crossing over to the reality of daylight.

Yes, our NATIONAL ELECTIONS are almost upon us.

This fact is substantiated by the proliferation of "Bones McCain" replicas hanging on front doors and picture windows, "Jack-O-Bama’s" on the porches, and the miniature, black, fanged "Vampire Nader’s" dangling from trees all over the valley.

Tonight, children nationwide will be emulating their favorite candidate.  Begging door-to-door, hurling epithets and sour grapes, all the while leaving wicked reminders of their visit throughout their neighborhood.  It's as if the campaign trails intersected right at your doorstep.  Of course, the entire episode will be carried out behind appropriate masks to avoid any identification or personal responsibility.  And as soon as the last egg is thrown the perpetrators vanish; leaving a wake of muck, upset households, and toppled privies.

One might tend to relax now, believing the danger has passed.

Au Contraire!

The prizes have yet to be awarded.  And on November 4th we will all step behind a curtain and vote for best costume.

Pleasant dreams!

You're right, Pinhole, the really scary night will be Tuesday. The sad thing is, we'll all be tricked.

I'm going to try and be optimistic this year.

I choose to think that as individuals we'll finally take responsibility for our actions.  I'm more concerned about that than being a cheerleader trying to convince the world that my country is better than all the rest.

I just woke up, read the sports page and thought it was going to be a good day. Then I read your post and it is ruined. I will be anxious all day and undoubtedly will have nightmares until at least Wednesday.

    Thanks a lot!

The amount of evil that happens on election night is terrific. Criminals know that newspeople will be too busy with elections, & they take advantage.

      How true.

And thanks for stopping by, Chris!  I've been reading your blog, but rarely have anything intelligent to offer.  I'll try and comment at some point.
