Sects and Violence
Prehistoric Valentines
Were simpler, so I’ve read.
Just find your true love’s fav’rite rock
And smack her on the head.
Whisper nothings in her ear,
All sugary and sweet;
Then smack her one more time
Before she makes it to her feet.
Societies were duly formed
In efforts to be civil.
Our intellects expanded as
Our strength began to shrivel.
Subtlety was now the norm
From politics to romance;
Sweet talk and campaigning both
Require at least one slow dance.
These days, if you bring a rock
To make your sweetheart’s day,
It better be a shiny one,

I'm not real sure about the subtlety, but the rocks sure have gotten shinier!

Indeed.

Things sure were simpler back then.
For the guys, at least.

So it would appear. But appearances can be deceiving.

There is something to be said for violence: make-up sects!
I enjoyed your poem.

Quite scientific, wouldn't you say?

"Oh,rock me gently, Rock me nice and,my dear,I'll be sure to bring the ice." This is what the Count told his love.
One slow dance and she had me!
