World Poetry Day

All our Mothers have a day
In May to call their own.
Fathers, too, possess some time
In June for lying prone.

Genuflect for vets, and for
Their service, if you please.
Even trees get special nods
It seems, for being trees.

In nineteen hundred ninety nine
The U.N. (others with 'em),
Declared the twenty first of March
A day of rhyme and rhythm.
